Back in 2019 I used to have a monthly series dubbed Small Goals. Instead of setting resolutions that year, I decided to set a few, attainable, realistic monthly goals as not to overwhelm myself with the pressure of lofting resolutions. I loved the accountability of setting monthly small goals and it was a great way to celebrate the victories, big or small. Well I’m bringing the series back for 2021!

So here’s the gist – each month I’ll set 3-5 goals for myself, and will try to complete them by the months end. A goal can be as simple as taking daily walks (which I stopped once the temperatures dropped), while another goal can be more of a challenge. At the start of each new month I’ll revisit the previous month’s goals and provide an update; I’ll also layout the small goals for the new month. Get it? Good! Read on for a look at my January goals!

My January Small Goals

Walk/Run a Mile a Day. Every January for the last several years, I’ve challenge myself to run or walk a mile a day. This has always been a great way to start on the right foot as it relates to my fitness goals and moving my body daily. I believe it doesn’t have to be complicated when it comes to being active.

Clean Out my Closet. I try to tackle this at the beginning of each season and while we’re smack dab in the middle of winter, my closet is in desperate need for a refresh. The last time I reviewed my wardrobe, it was more of a scan versus a real clean out. I gotta take it seriously this month.

Find a Therapist. In 2020 my mental health took a hit, and as someone who suffers from depression I was wrecked. I haven’t seen a therapist regularly since 2019 but I know the importance of talking to someone and having coping mechanisms. I really need to take my mental health seriously this year and find a therapist I can see on a regular basis, virtually, is top priority for me.
