The Season for Skirts

How often do you look into your closet and come out at a loss for what to wear? Well, pre-COVID. Far too often have I come out feeling uninspired by my clothing. And for me, I need my clothes to speak to me. Please tell me I’m not the only one?! Apparently, that “uninspired” feeling comes from disorganization. In an effort to feel inspired to wear the clothes I had hanging in my closet, and maybe to also curb my shopping, I did a massive closet clean out this past week.

This is something I do at the beginning of every season. As we enter fall, it’s time to reincorporate my cold-weather pieces and retire those of summer. Something I learn time and time again from these seasonal closet clean outs is that I feel most inspired by a closet full of items that represent who I am, right now. In order to do that, I must have a closet full of things that make me feel good and that I want to wear. And if you’re in the same boat, maybe a closet clean out is what you should do too.

As I reassessed my closet last week and purged, I wanted to give myself a little challenge. I picked a few items in my wardrobe that I wanted to focus on this fall season. This isn’t a capsule wardrobe type of challenge but rather a way to prioritize certain pieces that might need a little TLC, that I personally love. If you haven’t figured it out already, the first piece(s) I want to challenge myself to wear more are my skirts.

I have a little collection of skirts but I don’t wear them nearly enough. They are great for to pair with a graphic tee, a fancy blouse, or a great fall sweater – they are major! I’m hoping to rock my skirts way more this season and just swap out my jeans. This is a newer one to my closet but I love the fall vibes it gives off. Thoughts?
