A few years ago I decided to join the natural deodorant movement. I’m not really one to be super about clean beauty / clean ingredients but I have tried my share of those types of products within my everyday life. Some have been added to my beauty arsenal while others have not. But the argument for ditching deodorant with aluminum and baking soda spoke to me, so I made the switch. I’ve tried my fair share of natural deodorant and let’s just say, they are not all created equal.
First up, let’s discuss the Megababe’s Sunny Pits Deodorant. I’d like to start off by stating that the scent is amazing! Fresh and citrusy, which I’m a fan of both. It has a roll-on applicator, which I think I prefer versus a bar, because it’s like you’re jade rolling your pits. It’s nice! I loved that it didn’t irritate my skin like some natural deodorants have in the past, so that was a plus.
Truth be told, I’m a sweaty human. Like, I sweat more than anyone I know, so when it comes to deodorant I take it seriously. I really wanted Sunny Pits to be more magic than it actually was. Honestly, it didn’t effectively ward off my odor. I felt like it wasn’t powerful enough that I didn’t have to worry about BO after a summer afternoon walk.
I’d like to also add, I felt like it was wetter than I expected? The website warns of this stating something about how corn starch is an ingredient that helps with moisture absorption but because the deodorant is aluminum-free, some wetness is normal. Y’all, I was damp and that really turned me off.
After reading other reviews, I’m realizing that maybe I was quick to ditch Sunny Pits. I did my trial for roughly eight days and then I switched back. During that time, I definitely smelled but reviews stated that your body begins to accept it after the middle of the second week. So I may give it another try, we shall see.
Next up is Megababe’s Happy Pits Detoxifying Underarm Mask. Because switching to natural deodorant confuses your pits, people often ditch the idea of soon after trying it. Well, this mask is the cure you didn’t know you needed! It acts as a balancer to your armpits’ confusion of the natural switch. I felt like it sped up the awkward smelly process and detoxified my pores in that area.
It also doesn’t hurt that it’s packed with vitamin C, glycolic acid, and charcoal. All ingredients I personally know and love. Hello, I use masks for my face that use that same stuff. I also love that it comes in a squeezy tube, which makes the application really easy. It is recommended that you apply on clean, dry armpits so after a shower might be the best time to detoxify. That’s what I’ve been doing.
Again, Happy Pits goes on super easy and it’s not messy. You leave it on for five minutes and just chill with your arms elevated above your head. Once you’ve reached time, wipe it away with a warm, damp cloth and you’re all set! Personally, I’m left with fresh, non-irritated pits! This mask definitely gets an A from me!
