The kick-off to a new year always brings along with it tons of resolutions or intentions. We want to drink more water, eat more greens, contribute to society – basically, we want to become better versions of ourselves. And really, there’s nothing wrong with that. You can totally include me on the list of individuals trying to be better in 2020.
One of my family goals this year is to be more proactive in giving back. A few ways my family and I already contribute to our community is by participating in local food drives. We’re also pretty good at collecting gently used items from our home and donating to our local shelter. But I’d like us to step it up a notch in 2020! In addition to our standard donation, we raided our coat closet and donated coats and other cold-weather accessories such as gloves and hats to our local shelter.
Before doing a thorough sweep of the closets, I fueled up with a rich and smooth cup of coffee to get me ready to get in the groove. My favorite? Green Mountain Coffee Roasters® in the Dark Magic flavor, which I purchase from my local Walmart. I love supporting companies that do good for the community, and Green Mountain Coffee does just that! It even has a whole sustainability effort that it takes part in, talk about doing good! Green Mountain Coffee is doing its part to give back just as we’re trying to do as a family. In 2020 I want to go one step beyond giving back and ensure I also support brands giving back too.
If you’re looking for a way to contribute to your community, donating to your local food bank or shelter is a great way to start! This is the perfect time of year to also donate blankets, fresh socks, and rain boots. Those types of goods are usually lacking and in most need, plus you are sure to find them at affordable prices at your local Walmart! As a working mom-on-the-go, saving money is important. I love that I can count on everyday low prices when shopping for my home & grocery essentials at Walmart. And if I have my hands more full than usual, I can conveniently utilize their Online Grocery Pickup service. How will you do your part in 2020? Leave a comment below with great ways to contribute to the community so we can all get more ideas to be better and do better in the new year!
