Bootie, bootie, bootie, bootie, bootie rocking everywhere! And if you don’t know what song I’m referencing, you’re too young to be here. LOL, jk!
One thing you may not know about me is that booties are my preferred form of footwear. They’re an effortless way to elevate any look, so when I hear women say they’re intimidated about wearing ankle boots I’m taken aback. After asking around, I found out that apparently some believe booties/ankle boots make women’s feet look hoof-like or that they cut off their legs right above the ankle, making ankles look wide.
I get it, there’s no woman out there willing to look like they’ve got chunky ankles, at least not on purpose. To encourage you to rock your ankle booties this season I’m sharing some outfit inspiration below! Plus, I’m sharing a few tips to keep your legs looking long and slim, just in case you’re still on the fence.
Tips On How to Wear Booties:
- An exposed ankle is key, especially when you’re wearing jeans with ankle boots. A great way to create a gap between your jeans and boots is by cuffing the hem about 2-3 inches.
- Try a monochromatic look by pairing your ankle boots with the same colored tights! This way, even if your ankle boots are taller and cover the defined section of your leg (the ankle), it won’t matter because you’re creating a long, sleek line.
- Pair your booties with socks! If you’re nervous to experiment, I recommend wearing a neutral-colored sock to avoid being too busy. Also, if you’re wearing socks with a skirt or dress and bare legs, keep the hemline above the knee. Anything longer will cut off your ankles. Lastly, don’t be afraid to layer socks with jeans but be aware that the material should be thinner, like jeggings. You want to avoid adding bulk to the ankle area.
- If you’re still not sure about ankle boots, start off with wearing neutral pair similar to your skin tone. This elongates the leg-line, especially when wearing skirts/dresses.
