By the age of 34 you should…be able to live the life you want without having to prove anything!

We’ve all seen those lists on Twitter – By the age of XX you should…the list usually includes owning a fancy car, a home, have a certain amount of money in savings, the list goes on and on. But we all know that life is meant to be lived at your pace, it isn’t a race, and one is never too old or too young to fulfill their dreams.
As I near my 34th birthday (yay!), something I can say confidently is that adulting ain’t easy and it’s super basic of us to compare someone else’s middle to our beginning. In this world of social media, whether it’s Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram – pick your poison – comparing is kinda inevitable, but you don’t have to let jealousy consume you. What would be truly adulting is acknowledging those feelings, seeing where they might be coming from, and if necessary, make a game plan on how you can achieve whatever has you green with envy.
One thing I hope to accomplish in my 34th year of life is to take my own advice. I’m going to brag here and say that I give excellent advice – just ask my friends – but unfortunately I rarely take my own. I spew all this mumbo jumbo on how to be kind to yourself or how to practice self love and yet I have trouble following through. You want to know something funny, I actually believe all of it! Self love/self care/mental wellness – I think it can all be achieved!
There’s something about a birthday that has you reflecting on your life, your future and what you want at the end of the day. I think these next few weeks, as I gear up to celebrate yet another trip around the sun, I’m going to be doing some self reflection of my own. Give me some time and maybe I’ll share my findings;)
