Sharing a recap of my winter 10×10 challenge. The good, the bad, and the ‘I’m bored’!
As part of my Small Goals for the month of March, I wanted to complete a 10×10 challenge in an effort to work my wardrobe the best way I know how! I love a good remix challenge so I was excited to see what I could do in 10 days.
If you aren’t familiar with the concept behind the 10×10 challenge, participants choose 10 items of clothing (including shoes, however, accessories are not included) and create 10 outfits in 10 days. The masterminds behind the challenge are Caroline Casey and Lee Vosburgh. If you’ve been around for a while then you’ll recognize the concept as it’s very similar to Kendi’s 30 for 30 challenge which I participated in way back when (2011?!)
My 10×10 Picks:
While I was eager and excited to take part of the challenge and break out of the style rut I’d been experiencing prior to the 10 days, I gotta say, it all got really boring, really fast. By day 3 I was over it and wanted to access my entire closet. But I stuck to my guns and kept the challenge going, dressing myself with these 10 items for all 10 days.
I can attest that accessories make ALL the difference! I had fun changing up the outfits with accessories like statement earrings and scarves. Also, I think layering helped mask the fact that I wore the same dress 3 times in one work week, LOL! My officemates might have noticed that something was up, but I digress.
A thing to note, I originally included these Madewell jeans into my selection but quickly realized that they needed to be exchanged. So I made a switch to my favorite pair of denim. Otherwise, the challenge was a breeze. It was helpful to know what I was wearing on any given day, and I could have styled another 2 or 3 outfits out of my 10 pieces, but this challenge reminded me why I don’t like capsule wardrobes.
