It wasn’t until I wore this outfit, a few weeks back, that I realized that this top would be perfect for the 4th of July. First off, I feel like gingham is an essential summer print. Maybe even the epitome of all the summer prints? And if we’re talking about red gingham then that pretty much sums up summer in one fabric. Picnic blankets, napkins, tablecloths, hair ribbons, you name it – red gingham just screams summer! So it only seemed natural to snag this little peplum number, especially because it was only $12!
That same week I had remembered that I still hadn’t unpacked last year’s summer clothes from storage, so imagine my surprise when I rediscovered my favorite white distressed jeans! I think the last time I wore them on the blog was April of last year, which is kinda sad, but I’m happy I didn’t get rid of them. I did a little jig and put them aside to wear them the very next day. White denim + red gingham = the perfect summer outfit!
To me, this is one of those tops I can wear all year around. Sure, red gingham scews more summer but with the switch of the accessories I’m sure I can pull it off for Fall and even Winter! Just imagine, black skinnies and a denim jacket for Fall, or dark wash boyfriend jeans and a fuzzy cropped pullover for Winter – the possibilities could be endless if you’re willing to color outside of the seasonal lines;)
White denim is another summer staple that can bleed into other seasons. It really is all about switching up the pieces you pair with certain items that can have people believing that you’re pulling something off. Throw on some booties and some plaid and I’m pretty sure no one would question your denim choice in the middle of October. And if they do, well tell them to mind their own business!
