This season of life that I’m in is really throwing me for a loop. Like, I guess I’m not as down and out as I once was but every day is a constant battle of whether or not I am worthy. Some days are good and some days are bad, but I’m coming to realize that everyone has their own battles they’re fighting on the daily. While that is a sad fact, it’s reassuring to know that I am not the only one struggling.

Lately, to remedy any feelings of unworthiness and insecurity I’ve started to check my feelings at the door, i.e. I stop and smell the flowers. I take a beat and think about the people and things around me that I am grateful for, this way I am slowing down to notice the little things that make my life worthwhile, which if you ask me is plenty. Often times we forget about the world around us because we are so consumed with our own struggles, but I think to fight those daily battles we must find deeper appreciating for the world, beyond us.

Regardless of how busy our lives may be, it’s necessary for us to be present in the moments that matter most, otherwise they may pass us by without the appreciation they deserve. And that’s how moments get lost. Sometimes when we see a lot of flowers at once, we forget the beauty that each one has. I want to encourage you to look at just one flower closely. Examine it and notice things about it that you’ve never seen before. Now apply that metaphor to the moments in your life.
