Cropped Wide Leg Jeans + Tips on How to Style Them

I’m not gonna lie, I cringed when cropped flared jeans started popping up out everywhere. If you’re a fan, you do you boo but I can’t live that life. Now when cropped wide-leg denim followed suit I was surprised that I didn’t instantly hate the trend. I’m a skinny jeans girl all the way so trying a different silhouette for my curvy frame is hard for me. A few weeks ago, however, I was roaming around my local Old Navy when I stumbled upon a high-rise version. Y’all, my world was turned upside down and for only $8 (um mega sale!) it was my duty to not pass up that deal! I’ve already worn my cropped wide-leg jeans several times (coming to the blog probably next week) but until then I thought I’d share some tips on how to rock the trend.

// Do the tuck. I’ve gotta advise you to tuck in your top. Doubling up on the volume, i.e. pants and tops does your frame a disservice no matter what body type you are. Essentially you want to highlight a sintched-in midsection by tucking or semi-tucking your top.

// It’s all about proportions. Piggybacking off of my previous tip, proportion is key. Go for a pair that suits your frame. Curvy women should opt for a longer length pant (think a few inches above the ankles) while petite gals should consider a pair that hit mid-calf. Either way, you don’t want to look frumpy or overwhelm your frame.

// Add height. Unfortunately heels are a must with cropped wide-leg pants/denim but the height can vary. Sure, if you want to wear four inch pumps knock yourself out but know that you don’t have to. Even a modest block heel can do the trick and they’re comfortable!

// Add a jacket. Surprisingly, adding a fitted jacket that hits right at the waist add balance to the overall silhouette.

Stay tuned for when I debut my look with the trend!
