I’ve come to realize that I don’t share many of my more casual, everyday outfits here on FabAve. You tend to see the more fancy-shmancy ones I wear to church or for special occasions. I want to remedy that for the new year as best as I can which got me thinking about my style resolutions for 2017.
I’m in a sartorial funk. And to be candid, I have been for the last several months. I’m sure it has something to do with the reality that I’m still trying to figure out how to dress my postpartum body, or the fact that I have an extensive wardrobe but still manage to have nothing to wear most days out of the week. Its like there’s a blockage that I can’t manage to release. A creativity blockage, that is.
For the next few months I’m going to be partaking in an experiment, of sorts. A way to expand my my creativity, as it relates to my style, for the new year. A few ways I plan on jump starting my creative juices are by participating in a shopping ban. Jesse is taking part in a six month shopping ban, and while I’ll be looking at the entire experience month to month (less daunting that way), the basic principals are the same – no shopping.
Another way I plan on rediscovering my style is by taking a cue from Beth and have more fun wearing clothes! I love that she takes a costume-y approach to her personal style and she tends to have a concept whenever she gets dressed for the day. I feel like I used to be more inventive with my style, playing up different decades or trends, and I want to get back to that! I’m not promising that each and every outfit I share here on the blog will be full of pizzazz but I can promise you that it’ll be a true representation of my style to its fullest extent as opposed to wearing clothes for the sake of capturing it for the blog.
So tell me, do you have style resolutions set for 2017? If so, what are they and how do you plan on accomplishing them?
