How To: Fill in Brows

Ever heard that saying, “Never trust a chic
with bad brows?” Personally, I think that statement is pretty spot on, which is
why I take my brows really seriously. Think about it, eyebrows have a pretty
big impact on how one’s face is interpreted. As a result of years of
mistreatment- over-plucking, lightening, waxing, threading, and even shaving
(gasp!), my brows have taken quite the beating. I’ve been left with sparse,
twig-like eyebrows that I refuse to let anyone see au naturel. Thank goodness
though, for products dedicated solely to the upkeep and maintenance of eyebrows!
In an era where Cara Delevingne-esque brows are what’s hot, today I’ll be
sharing some of the products I use to keep my brows in tip top shape!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Express for Eyes and Brows Kit // I
started my brow filling journey with this starter kit and I’m so happy I did. It’s a great guide to filling in brows and includes stencils for the lost and confused.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz // Thin enough
to mimic the look of real hair and waxy enough to look natural, this product is the holy grail of eyebrow fillers.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil // I highly suggest this product for gals
not willing to drop $30 on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. It’s the
drugstore equivalent without the price tag.

NYX Automatic Eyebrow Pencil  // This product is ideal for ladies with
already lush brows, as it’s perfect for adding a little bit of depth versus filling in sparse brows.

Bodyologoy Essentials Brow Trio – I received this product in my April BoxyCharm
and I’ve gotta say, it’s great for creating bold looking brows.

Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara – I highly suggest investing in a
setting gel. It makes all the difference, especially on a hot summer’s day.

A few tips to fill in your brows:

  • step one// Using short, staccato strokes, fill in brows
using the natural shape of your brow as a guide.
  • step two// From there, begin to fill in any gaps you may
    have.
  • step three// Using a spoolie brush, brush brows to blend the
    product evenly throughout.
  • step four// Once you’ve achieved the look you’re going for,
brush setting gel through brows, mimicking the shape you’ve already created.

If the eyes are the nipples of the face, then
eyebrows are the tassels that make your face pop! Too far?
