Remy – 24 Months

Some of you may have noticed that a Monthly Update was not shared last month, this was in part because I was lazy and didn’t get my stuff together in time to have the post up. And yes, you read that correctly. This will be the very last Remy Monthly Update post. I’ll continue to share photos of my tiny human here on the blog (you can also catch some behind the scenes action over on Instagram and Snapchat – user name for both is joannealma) but this series will end with post. However there will be Remy dedicated posts, I just haven’t nailed down the focus for those potential series.

Vocabulary/Talking: We’ve got a Chatty Cathy on my hands! Homegirl loves to talk, specifically, she enjoys singing. Her vocabulary is very robust, it seriously boggles my mind. I would share all the words she knows but I’m feeling kinda lazy…here are just a few phrases she says:

  • “See you later.”
  • “Mommy, no hitting!”
  • “Chandler move!”
  • “I like this song.”
  • “Remy try it?”
  • “Let’s go outside.”
  • “I love you.”
  • “Remy watch Dora?”
  • “That’s mommy’s water.”
  • “Daddy, what’s that?”
  • “That scare me!”
  • “That’s mommy’s car.”

Development: Homegirl can count to eight in Spanish and to ten in English. We are really working on building up her Spanish word vocabulary and it’s really working! She was gifted several of these books and is really getting good at distinguishing the Spanish words versus the English ones.

We might have a tiny softball player on our hands. She’s really good at throwing a ball very far. Physically she’s becoming a good jumper (love it!) and can pretty much put on and take off her clothes by herself.

Napping/Sleeping: We have our good weeks and we have our bad weeks. This week Remy has successfully slept in her crib until typically 7:30 am, but there have been nights in previous weeks where we’ll have to bring her in to bed with us around 3 am. It really just depends. As far as napping goes, she naps rather well on weekends and according to daycare she naps during the week, too.

Eating: I think I’ve officially accepted the fact that I have a typical toddler that is picky. I’m pretty sure we’ve got ourselves a little vegetarian because Remy does not eat meat. We try and supplement her protein by feeding her favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and we are starting to include beans in her meals. Also, our doctor suggested feeding her egg whites, which Remy has eaten before and enjoyed.

Growth/Health: We have stats! Remy is in the 88th percentile for height coming in at 35.5 inches/nearly 3 ft tall, and weighs 29.17 lbs putting her in the 86th percentile.

In her wellness visit, the doctor pointed out that Remy might have allergies. She’s had a constant stuffy nose and has become a mouth breather. She suggested a small dose of Claritin every morning to see if that clears things up.

Social:

  • “Shut up daddy” actually came out of Remy’s mouth and I couldn’t help but laugh.
  • Could spend all day swinging in a swing.
  • ‘Shut Up and Dance with Me’ is her favorite song.
  • Likes: Dora the Explorer, coloring, Minions, reading books, playing with boxes, and puzzles.
  • A potty has officially been purchased and I’m pretty sure we’ll be starting the process of potty training in the very near future. She enjoys sitting on it and watching me pee.
  • Had a ball at Chcuk-E-Cheese for her cousins birthday.
  • Takes selfies. I honestly don’t know where she get’s if from…

I love my little girl.
