Did you know that New York Fashion Week will be closing its doors come February? Yep that’s right, this will be the last year that fashion enthusiasts from all over migrate to New York for a sneak peek into the following seasons designs. Apparently Mercedes Benz is leaving as the main sponsor and Lincoln Center ended their lease agreement with fashion week.
I never thought I’d become ‘know’ enough to get invitations from designers/brands but I did always think that one day I’d pop my Lincoln Center cherry. Whether or not deals will be made and papers will be signed to revive NYFW in the future, no one really knows, but what I do know is the feeling one gets when all the excitement is happening hundreds of miles away. While I’ve never attended, I’m pretty sure I could only imagine the excitement the city goes through during those few days in February. Here are some lessons I’ve learned from not attending NYFW:
- FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is real. Accept it and move on.
- Do not get on social media unless you’d like to be bombarded with behind the scenes images of the beautiful chaos.
- You don’t need to be at Lincoln Center to look and be fierce. Try that street style look you’ve been wanting to on the streets of your own town. I dare you not to dial it down;)
- The world continues to move on passed the runway.
