Travel What to Pack

What to Pack: Romantic Getaway

This What to Pack post won’t be as strict to the letter as those prior but I thought I would still share with y’all the items that I packed with me for my anniversary trip last weekend. I packed a couple favorites like this Gap dress and my trusty boyfriend jeans (last worn here), but I also took the chance to break out new wardrobe additions like a Karen Kane stunner perfect for the season and a pair of motocross inspired skinnies that hadn’t made their debut on the blog yet.

Because I wasn’t packing for a tiny tot and wasn’t flying I took it upon myself to pack to my little hearts content, i.e. I over-packed like a champ! In my defense the temps were in the low 60’s and below so layering was a my master plan but I also planned on remixing many of the items packed. Enter cozy knits.

When it came to denim, dresses and skirts, or what I like to call the meaty portion, I continued to keep the color pallet simple and remixable and mainly focused on packing items that I knew would withstand chilly nights sans outerwear. This was a couples resort with tons of activities (from adult bingo, to billiards, to bike rides, and archery) so while I wanted to look cute and put together I also didn’t want to look like I put much effort into getting dressed.

Other than a denim jacket, I didn’t pack any outerwear. This my friends was on purpose. I didn’t want to be boggled down by a jacket (I only wore my denim one once) and knew I’d be layering most of our stay so I relied heavily on what I like to call my cold weather warmers. .

Because this trip didn’t require remixing (although I did) and I wasn’t limited in what needed to be packed, I didn’t stay within any parameters of packing for an X amount of days with an X amount of items like previous What to Pack posts. While our trip did last 5 days (Thurs-Mon) it also included various changes throughout the day depending on what activities we’d be participating in. In short within those 5 days I managed 8 outfits but I know I could have managed more with the items that were packed.

Stay tuned for the next couple of weeks for outfit posts from the trip with the items rounded up in this post, one of which you’ll see tomorrow!
