This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and The Allstate Foundation. All opinions expressed are my own.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an issue I’ve spoken about here on FabAve before. As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Allstate Foundation formed the Purple Purse campaign to urge people to talk about domestic violence without fear or anxiety about the stigma that come with experiencing such life changing events.
Did you know that most women that are victims of domestic violence stay in their abusive relationships because of the financial struggle that might come by leaving? Did you know that domestic violence affects more women than breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung cancer combined? Did you know that on average, three women die from domestic violence a year?
Today we ALL get to help those that hide in their silence by helping me Pass the Purse! Wondering what that means? Well every time you head over to www.purplepurse.com you help me virtually pass the purse. By entering this code: 0003, a $5 donation will be activated from the Allstate Foundation to the YWCA for programs that assist victims of domestic violence. So let’s review: by clicking here you can make a difference and help millions of women in need. Yep, it’s that easy!
But let’s take it a step further, shall we? I would love it if you shared the link (www.purplepurse.com) to your Twitter and Facebook friends and prompted them enter code (0003) for an additional $5 donation. Now imagine if they did the same and shared the link and code to their friends? We could essentially raise thousands of dollars to help victims that are unable to help themselves. That’s a movement I am proud and honored to be a part of!
So let’s spark a conversation about domestic violence and help empower those impacted everyday.
