Day 8: Blogging and Social Media

Today’s blogtember topic is writing about how blogging and/or social media have changed me. I absolute love this subject because blogging has really become a true passion of mine and the social media aspect of it is just the cherry on top!

I started Fabulously Average a little over 2 years ago. I was in a new city, recently married, and at a job I loathed. After becoming completely obsessed with Keira of the blog A Pretty Penny (total blogger crush, y’all!) I thought it was only natural for me to take a go at the whole blogging thing. From first publish I was hooked! I love that I have a little corner of the internet to call my home, where I can share my style, my life, and thoughts on everything under the sun. Sure, I could be judge for what I say, do, or wear here but it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks, this is MY space. This is where day in and day out I dedicate the time and energy to express myself the way I want to be perceived in the world. I allow you to see the good, the bad, and the ugly because that is the way life truly is. In this space you will always get the real me and it astounds me each and every day that you accept this version of myself. I can never thank you enough for that!

Social media has changed me because through the different platforms I am able to further get my style, views, etc. out there in the big black space we call the World Wide Web. Social media and blogging has also allowed me to make some awesome real and virtual friendships. It is through social media that I got connected with some of my current real life Phoenix friends as well as virtual friends that I’ve gotten to meet IRL. In addition to all that jazz, I love that I could start a conversation with readers and friends alike via Twitter or Facebook. It’s all so intertwined and I love it!

Now it’s your turn to weigh in. How has social media and/or blogging changed your life?
