Five Things

A couple weeks back, blogger friend Myrna of My Beat Boutique tagged me in the ‘Five things about me’ post. If you aren’t familiar it’s when you share five facts about yourself and then tag friends so that they do the same. Continue reading below to find out five facts about me!

  1. I was held back a year, not because of any learning disabilities but because my mom got sick when I was in the second grade. We lived in DC and didn’t have family around so no one was available to take me to school. When we eventually moved to Northern Virginia and my mom enrolled me in school I had to repeat the second grade. My excuse for acting younger than I am;)
  2. When I was 13 I participated in a model search. Have you heard of Model Search America? Yep, that’s the one! I look back and I’m embarrassed at the goofy outfit I wore down the runway (kimono inspired crop top with matching skirt in red). I was ‘signed’ to a local modeling school that ended up taking our money. Surprise, surprise.
  3. In ninth grade my best friends and I participated in the talent show. A hip hop dance routine to Missy Elliot’s Get Your Freak On and Destiny’s Child’s Survivor. Looking back it was pretty bad ass! I wonder if anyone recorded it.
  4. In high school I was in an advanced madrigals singing group. It was only advanced because you had to audition to get placed in the class. How I got in still baffles me to this day. I’m not the best singer in the world. Mind you, to perform we wore renaissance inspired costumes. I promise I wasn’t a nerd; the cool people were in this class…
  5. I’ve dated a convicted felon. Now in my defense he wasn’t a bad guy when we were together, it was after me that he decided to rob banks. Yeah, I know how to pick ‘em.

Rachael, Leslie, Tanvi, and Linda – I would love to know more about you! Tag, you’re it:)
