[Event] Shop Garment District with PHXFW

This past Friday, August 10th I had the pleasure of attending Phoenix Fashion Week’s annual Shop Garment District event, where this year’s Emerging Designers got to debut a sneak peek of the designs they have in store for us in October. The venue, which took place at the trendy hot-spot Degree 270, was packed with Phoenix IT-listers, media and industry experts. Not only was the occasion used to preview the featured designers but it was also a chance to showcase this year’s Top 40 Models, an elite group of hopefuls competing for the chance to be SmartWater’s Model of the Year.

What better way to start a night than with a little shopping? The night began perfectly for this fashionista – with a trunk show featuring the 12 emerging designers’ merchandise. From apparel, to jewelry, to bags there was a little of everything for everyone. This was a nice touch from the PHXFW team because it allowed those in attendance a chance to not only see the designs on the runway but also a chance to take some of the goods home. Some of my favorites of the night include the amazing denim designs of JHaus, which brought an All-American feel to the classic material; Bri Seeley, which highlighted a whimsical, feminine feel to their pieces; and the edgy, girly designs of Suzanne Lay, which contained structure, lace and leather- what else can a girl ask for?

Over all Phoenix Fashion Week had a stellar event. It was a great preview of what’s to come in October and a great networking affair as well, as industry insiders were all in attendance. Congratulations to the PHXFW team for pulling off an amazing fashion show and yet another successful Shop Garment District event. A very special thank you to Lauren Pfingstag, Media Director for PHXFW, for granting us bloggers media access into the event.
