In Honor of America’s Victory…
Every day I am thankful that my mom decided to immigrate come to this country. With all its faults, America is still the best place in the world to live. Yes, we have a sucky healthcare system, racism is till prominent in parts of the US and there are still many poor and hungry people roaming the streets. However, I am truly thankful for America. So, in honor of Her victory here are my top 4 why I love America:
1. I am very appreciative for each and every man and woman that has served, past or present, in our military. The sacrifices that you have made are what makes us free. I am tremendously thankful for every man and woman who has stood on the front lines and died so that we could live a free life, a better life, a more prosperous life. For those that are still overseas, come back to us safe.
2. We live in a country that can now say that anybody can aim to be president, any race, any gender (hopefully). The most ground breaking news in history: Barack Obama’s election to Presidency. I am proud and grateful that we as Americans have begun to put color behind us, electing officials based on who they are and what they plan to do to make us a better America.
3. We live in a country that is ‘attempting’ to have freedom of equality. I am referring to gender equality, racial equality, and social equality. All this results in the efforts to fight all inequality. I truly believe that one day, we will all be equal. Black, white; gay, straight; man, woman. It may take some time but I think it will happen.
4. Freedom of religion. It doesn’t matter what you believe and how you believe, you are free to worship how you please. That is not the case in so many places around the world, many people are punished for what they believe. I am grateful that I live in a country where there is religious tolerance.
The list could go on and on but I want to hear from you. Tell me why you are thankful for America.
